I carefully selected these short-shank Surfperch hooks, specifically to be used with the Battlestar Soft Candy Perch Bait, or any small perch grub, when surf perch fishing. These short shanks and relatively wider gaps allow you to use the hook with our tiny 1.2inch Soft Candy Perch Bait, and consistently get deep secure hooksets to help you land those super slabs on the sand. These are very high-quality hooks, with extremely sharp points which are durable so they last through a long session of dragging across the sandy bottom beaches. They feature light-wire design to help keep the hook tip in an upward position when counterbalancing your bait with a bottom weight. The SA280 Minnow is my favorite hook, and it's just a little heavier gauge, so if you suspect there may be some big striped bass in the area, you might opt for these. But you'll still want to set your drag! The NS172 is a lighter wire design, which is perfect for easy hooksets. I have a blast fishing these with light leader and my drag nice and loose.
